Defense Day

A day is celebrated in Pakistan known as Defense Day. Defense Day is a National Day to pay tribute to the sacrifices made by Pakistani Soldiers in protecting the borders of Pakistan. In 1965, on 6 September Indian Soldiers go across the International Borders to accomplish their plan to attack Punjab, the Province of Pakistan. Our army was succeeded in protecting the areas and lives of thousands of civilians that were attacked by the Indian Army. Many of our National heroes are martyred during this war. On this day our National heroes are awarded awards for their bravery. The highest Military award Nishan-i-Haider was given to Major Aziz Bhatii for his amazing role in protecting Lahore.

The context of the war 1965 War

In 1965, the Indo-Pak war began when Pakistan dent his Mujahid in Kashmir. The total number of Mujahid sent to Kashmir was about 7000 to 8000. The primary objective of these Mujahids is to provoke population of Kashmir rebellion (بغاوت) to get freedom from the Indian Army. On September 1 a tank attack was launched on Akhnoor Bridge in Jammu. The name of this operation is Operation Grand Islam. This operation was considered as fait accompli (فضول بحث اور ہو نہ چارہ کوئی کا جس) operation. Shuja Nawaz, a Pakistani Scholar said that The Pakistani General Planned to take possession of Akhnoor Bridge and move towards Jammu to break the communication of Indian to Kashmir Valley. The Indian Prime Minister warned that if Pakistan attacked Kashmir they will retaliate (کارروائی جوابی) on Pakistan. Pakistan pays no attention to Indian Prime Minister Warning.
On 6 September, to retaliate Indian army entered the International Border of Punjab. The main objective of the Pakistan army is to attack Grand trunk road in Lahore. This is a surprise attack for Pakistani Commanders. On the Second Day of war, the Army General Musa Khan told the President of Pakistan that the ammunition of the army was finished. Both of the armies accepted their unmandated ceasefire on 23rd September.
