 History of Karbala

A city is located in Iraq known as Karbala city. On 10 October, 680CE, and on 10 Muharram this battle was fought in the city of Karbala. A small army led by the grandson of Prophet Muhammad was conquered by the army of Caliph Yazid 1. The shrines of Imam Hassan and Abbas was present in the city of Karbala. The city of Karbala was considered a holy city by Shia Muslims.

Climate

The climate in the Karbala was very hot. The days in this city are very log and hot. The average high temperature in 111.0 F I July and average low temperature is 41F in January in last years.

History

Battle of Karbala

In the bare desert of Karbala, this battle was fought. Both Hussain ibn e Ali or Abbas Ibn Ali were buried in this city known as Karbala. The place where they were buried now called Mashhad Al-Husayn. The Hussain refuse to take the Oath of allegiance of Yazid caliphate. Due to this reason the Kufan governor, Ibn Ziyad sent his army against Husain when he traveled toward Kufan. This army of Ziyad consists of thirty thousand horsemen. I this battle Hussain, Abbas, Ali Akbar, Ali Asghar, and his nephews Qassim, Aun all were martyrdom. This city has a severe problem with water shortage. In the 18th century, this problem was solved by constructed a dam Husayniyya Canal.

A large number of tourists come to Iraq to visit Karbala every year. Some important tourist attraction places are:

Al-Abbas Mosque

This mosque is the tomb of Abbas Ibn Ali and also used as a Mosque. In Karbala, this mosque is built near Imam Hussain Mosque. Ali Ibn Abi Talib was the son of Abbas and Imam Hussain and Hassan was the Half-brother of Ibn Abbas. In 2012, a lot of renovations are done in this mosque to make it beautiful to attract the attention of Tourism. Around this only shrine, a wall was built and this building was then converted into double story building. Now Museums, Offices, and Prayer hall are present in this shrine.

Imam Hussain Shrine
In Iraq, in Karbala city, the tomb of imam Hussain was built.
 Imam Hussain was the grandson of Prophet Muhammad. He was martyrdom in the battle of Karbala in 680CE. The gates of this holy place were made up of woods and have glass decorations on them.
